An introductory course covering the basics of public speaking, logical reasoning, and debate structures. Participants will learn to articulate ideas clearly, construct arguments, and engage in constructive discourse. Perfect for newcomers to debate and public speaking.
Public Speaking and Debate for Beginners
Learn the art of public speaking and debate! Students will learn the skill set to create persuasive argumentation on current events and deliver them in front of people. Apply what you’ve learned in exercises and games, culminating in a friendly camp tournament judged by your mentors. The camp is meant for kids with little to no prior experience in public speaking or debate or as a skills course for beginner students who want to level up their game! During camp, we will have a break for lunch, so be sure to bring a sack lunch and a drink.
Advanced Debate and Public Speaking
Building on foundational skills, this camp delves into advanced debate strategies, persuasive rhetoric, and complex argumentation. Students will engage in advanced mock debates, refine their research techniques, and develop sophisticated presentation skills. Ideal for those with prior debate experience or who have completed the beginner course.
